Course Description: A study of herbaceous plant materials used in the floriculture, nursery, and landscape industries. Emphasis is placed on the nomenclature, identification, cultural requirements, and landscape uses of this group of plants.



Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, the student will be able to:
Identify, by botanical and common names, common annual, biennial, and perennial herbaceous plants.
List the families of the plants studied.
List the cultural characteristics of the plants including sun/shade requirements, moisture requirements, soil requirements, and pest problems.
List the landscape uses and other uses of the plants.
