The Biowaste-to-Energy Center at SUNY Cobleskill
Welcome
Creating Clean, Renewable Energy from Agricultural and Municipal Solid Wastes
SUNY Cobleskill has incorporated sustainable practices into its curricula and business practices, and is developing course work in waste management systems. Students across the disciplines will have opportunities to observe this research and participate in applied research.
Members of the Center conducted a poster session at the SUNY and Sustainability Conference in Saratoga Springs on November 12-14, 2007.

Welcome to our web site.
The college has approximately 400 head of livestock and approximately 1500 of its 2500 students live on campus. Both produce a significant renewable source of waste with which to supply this project. The state-of-the-art waste handling system at the college's dairy barn separates liquids from solids. The liquids extracted are sent to a settling pond where the sediment in the liquid is allowed to further separate from the liquids. The sediment and separated solids resulting from this process are the perfect "starters" for the gasification process.
